The Ministry of Health of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar together with the House of Representatives have agreed to GACOPA request to hold East Africa’s inaugural conference .
The GACOPA executives led by the President Austin Oduor had an exclusive key meeting with the House of Representatives Welfare Committee – the Committe tasked to handle health issues of the house .
The meeting which took place at the Parliament building in Chukwani was also attended by the Ministry Of Health’s Director of Curative Health Services Dr Amour S Mohammed
In the meeting which which was chaired by the Committee’s head Hon ……. attended by members Hon Zawadi Amour Nasour (MP Konde) ,Hon Abdalla Awasi Wadi (MP Nungwi ) and Hon Bihinda Ahmad Khamis among other members discussed issues relating to role of clinical officers in the country ,the legislative aspect and also the strengthening of systems where specialist clinical officers are recognized
The committee also agreed to engage the East African Legislative Assembly assembly members of the respective east African countries to also have clinical officers enlisted in the Medical Professions Health Inspection council as this would ease work for clinical officers to work in any of the countries .
A request by GACOPA President Austin Oduor Otieno to have Zanzibar host the inaugural East Africa Clinical Officers conference was both supported by the Assembly and Ministry of Health .
On their part both the government and assembly assured GACOPA a good working relationship to ensure a better future for clinical officers in terms or recognition and autonomy for the realization of Universal Health Coverage
Also present was Burundi Clinical Officers Association Secretary General Jean Claude Ngendakumana , Tanzania Association of Clinical officers and Clinical Assistants Innocent Somboi , GACOPA Organizing Director Chris Onditi , the Director of Communications Viola Mujjukizi and Emmanuel Agom of Uganda Medical Clincal Officers Professionals .
